Transplant public art sculpture commission 2008
Commissioned by Cheshire County Council and Liverpool University for the 'Something Beautiful' project, part of the Liverpool City of Culture 2008 festivities and Cheshire Year of the Garden 2008. Inspired by an old shed at Ness Botanical Gardens, near Chester, the sculpture 'Transplant' was created. The magical quality of the gardens created a concept that should not try and compete with the plants but rather form something that was hardly visible. This involved working with a skeleton structure and transparent materials, all sourced from matter destined for landfill.
Silhouettes of garden scenes and significant words were printed onto the surfaces of the perspex tools and pots to invite an informal inquiry by visitors.
'Transplant' can be seen at Ness Botanical Gardens during 2008.
